The aim of this one-day course is to provide a sound footing for managers and front line staff who want to examine more about key equalities legislation and how it may affect them in the workplace. This course includes cognitive bases modules, aimed at challenging common attitudes and behaviors which may act as barriers to change. Other modules provide opportunities to develop practical skills through the analysis of discriminatory practices, seeing them for what they are, and creating just Reponses. Gender, Race, Religion, Disability Belief, Sexual Orientation issues are covered on this course
Schedule
Session 1:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

Understand the concept of diversity

Recognise the needs of diverse communities within the XXXX area

Understand why internal/external equality policies exist and their importance

Have an understanding of existing & future UK discrimination legislation

Have an understanding as to the concepts of harassment & bullying

Be fully briefed as to XXXX City Council policy on Social cohesion issues

Cover Diversity Register of Compliance & Race Equality Scheme

Understand the problems encountered by diverse groups in relation to discrimination and victimisation

Understand why myths and stereotypes are prevalent in society

Describe the benefits of a society that is equitable

Recognise the links between diversity and community issues and operational service delivery
