Neil Holden
Neil is a highly experienced trainer and consultant, who has provided training for central banks, commercial banks, other financial institutions, and international companies both in UK and overseas.
Before moving into training and consultancy, Neil was a member of the international staff of Standard Chartered Bank for over twenty years, with whom he worked in UK, Europe, the Middle East, Far East, and Africa. Prior to that he worked for Midland Bank (now HSBC) in UK.
During his banking career, Neil worked in a wide range of disciplines including trade finance, corporate banking, treasury - both dealing & back office, retail/consumer banking, operations, financial control, and internal audit.
Neil trains in a number of subjects, his main ones are Trade Finance and Operations Management/Operational Risk Management; he has also delivered courses on other risk management topics – including the developments under the Basel II initiative as well as on Fraud & Fraud avoidance.
His consultancy assignments have been equally diverse, ranging from: revamping the FX and asset & liability management activities and re-establishing the marketing and business development function for a bank in the far east of Russia, leading the operations management task force in a due diligence exercise prior to the purchase of significant percentage of a South Korean bank, to conducting a review of an Indonesian bank’s commercial management and subsequently heading the team for the development of its retail/consumer banking activities.
Neil is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and an affiliated member of the Institute of Management Consultancy.
